Fields Station is located in the tiny community of Fields, Oregon, in southeastern Harney County, roughly 50 miles southeast of Frenchglen, between the Steens Mountains and Pueblo Mountains. Fields itself has only around a hundred residents in its broader area and is extremely remote.  The station dates back to 1881, when Charles M. Fields homesteaded there and established a stage station along the old route between Burns and Winnemucca, Nevada. The location became a stopping and resupply point for stage travelers, freight haulers and ranchers.  Today, Fields Station is essentially the community's general store, gas station, café and lodging operation all rolled into one.
