Hotel Jägerhof
Hotel Jägerhof
Germany Europe Accommodation Paved
Hotel Jägerhof is a family run hotel, where every room is different. The breakfast was excellent, the rooms are basic, but comfortable and clean. Our bathroom was a comfortable size with a rare treat: a shower with full water pressure. There is no lunch or dinner at the hotel, but an openly accessible fridge with all kinds of snacks and drinks. Payment on trust basis. And this is the vibe you see here. Be part of the family while here. Be good, receive good.Downtown are good dinner options. Check opening times - especially on Mondays. The Eifel area is great for motorcycling and visiting some castles on the way.

Nuclear Bunkers of Area One 2
Nuclear Bunkers of Area One
Germany Europe Historic / Ruins Paved
"Area 1" as it is now called was a 42 acre secure internally-fenced area within the former Fischbach Ordnance Depot. The depot stored multiple types of missiles in roughly 96 bunkers. But it was the storage of nuclear weapons inside the special Area 1 bunkers that make it worth visiting this haunting place. Walking through the site takes about an hour.I added a youtube video from our last trip. Enjoy the little tour!

Rietburg Trail 4
Rietburg Trail
Germany Europe View Point Unpaved - Easy / Compacted
DescriptionAt around 4 km, this is one of the longest gravel roads in the Palatinate that you’re actually allowed to drive on. You can ride it with pretty much anything - doesn’t matter if you’re on a supersport bike or a tiny scooter. After bad weather it dries quickly. It’s wide enough for cars and motorcycles to pass each other without stress. The only downside: you have to go back the same way you came.Getting thereFrom the village of Rhodt unter Rietburg, head west on Theresienstraße towards the Rietania hut.Just before you reach the Rietania hut, there’s a small local access(*) road branching off to the right up to Rietburg. There are signsposts, so you can’t really miss it.The road starts with some tight bends, then turns into longer straight sections. It climbs from about 325m up to 560m in elevation, and right at the end it slopes slightly downhill again to the parking lot in front of Rietburg. The view from Rietburg over the Rhine Valley is great. One of the few chairlifts outside the Alps also runs up here.(*) You count as "local", when you buy something in one of the restaurants.
