Castelo de Almourol
Monument
Europe Portugal

Warning
Deep Waters, dont cross the river!!!
Built on an island in the middle of the Tagus River, this castle was part of the defensive line maintained by the Knights Templar in the Middle Ages.
With almost a thousand years of history, despite being a historical monument, its strategic position meant it was considered military equipment, and it wasn't uncommon to see maneuvers and exercises carried out by the Portuguese military forces!
