The Nyidalur hut and campground is to be found along the F26, so called Sprengisandsleið (Sprengisandur). The F26 is one of the very few tracks to cross Iceland from North to South.
You'll need a decent 4x4 or enduro bike to travel on this track. The critical part is the river crossing north of this place as the river bed can be long and deep. It's wise to talk to the local ranger about the situation and also travel with experienced drivers in a team/group.
As there is no infrastructure along the F26 you have to carry enough fuel.
Nyidalur hut and camping is a good stop to continue to Askja (Dreki hut and camping) the next day following the F910.
