Posbank

View Point

  Europe  Netherlands

The Posbank is a monumental memorial bench and adjacent teahouse in the southern Veluwe region near Rheden in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The Posbank is also popularly known as the hilly heathland in which it is located, but this area is actually called the Herikhuizerveld.

The bench stands at an elevation of 90 meters[1] above sea level in the Veluwezoom National Park, with views over the Herikhuizerveld, the IJssel Valley, Arnhem, the Achterhoek region, and the Liemers region, extending all the way to Germany. For comparison, the highest point in the Veluwe is the nearby Signaal Imbosch (110 meters). The former restaurant (pub) at the Posbank was destroyed in a fire in 1996. In 2002, Natuurmonumenten commissioned the construction of a new teahouse (Paviljoen de Posbank).
