Whale Hunters, Lamlahera, Lembata
Accommodation, Natural Highlight, Start of a Good Trail
Asia Indonesia
Lamalera, located on Indonesia's Lembata Island, is one of the world's few surviving traditional, subsistence-based whaling communities. Using hand-thrown bamboo harpoons from handmade wooden boats, locals hunt sperm whales and other marine life. Its a wild place. Hunters - not fishermen.
Great trails in and out.
