The facility is located on the estuary of the Rance River, in Brittany, France. Opened on the 26th November 1966, it is currently operated by EDF, and is the second largest tidal power station in the world, in terms of installed capacity
the barrage is situated near Saint-Malo in Brittany, France, It experiences the highest tides in Europe, with a tidal range often exceeding 12–14 meters (\(40-46\) feet) between low and high tide. During high coefficients—often topping 110—the sea rises rapidly over six hours, swallowing beaches and covering the city's breakwater defenses.
