About this place
Lom Stave Church is an impressive church with a rich history. Built in the mid-12th century, it served both the local population and travelers, acting as an important hub between east and west. Constructed using stave architecture, the church features a raised central nave supported by a series of internal staves (columns). The carved dragon heads on the roof have been a characteristic feature of the church since its inception. The uppermost dragon head on the east side of the church and the ridge beam above the chancel are replicas of medieval originals, created in 1964.
