Straßensperre

As the fortifications of Fenestrelle extended up the hillside above the road, both the road itself and the adjacent stream had to be blocked off. The mountain fortress provided security from the north, while Forte Mutin did so from the south; the only potential weak points were the road passage and the stream. Consequently, a blockhouse was constructed right by the stream to serve as a road barrier. This structure, along with the infantry defenses, was partially destroyed during road expansion work.
