The Rock Church - St. Olaf Lutheran Congregation

 The church is a simple rectangular building with a steeply pitched roof and tall, narrow windows that let in soft natural light. Its arched wooden doors and exposed stone interior create a raw, frontier feel. Inside, the sanctuary is quiet and intimate, with hand‑hewn wooden beams, unpainted stone walls, and plain wooden pews arranged in neat rows. 

 A small bell tower, added later, houses a bronze bell imported from Norway. The church sits on a gentle rise surrounded by oak and cedar trees, overlooking rolling ranchland. The setting is peaceful and remote — a gravel road leads to the church, and the surrounding silence adds to its historic character. 

 Adjacent to the building is a cemetery filled with Norwegian‑inscribed headstones, many dating back to the late 1800s. The site remains active for special services, weddings, and an annual Christmas Eve candlelight gathering. 

 St. Olaf Rock Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserved almost exactly as it stood in the 19th century — a rare, untouched piece of Texas frontier heritage.
