Waypoint 1: Neptune's Net
Neptune's Net
For over half a century, Neptune's Net has been a special part of history. In 1956, NASA aerodynamicist, Eastman Jacobs, retired and started the restaurant across a beautiful County line beach in Malibu, California. The original building has not changed and is currently the site of the "restaurant side." Over the decades, the "seafood side" and the outdoor patio area were added, but the place has still kept its historic flare.
Come hang out amongst other tourists, locals, celebrities, families, beach-goers, surfers, hikers, foodies, exotic car clubs, motorcycles, and bicyclists! Enjoy some fish and beer and view the epic waves in the Pacific Ocean. You deserve it!
Waypoint 2: The Rock Store
The Rock Store
The Rock Store is one of Southern California’s most iconic motorcycle hangouts, known as much for the people-watching as the riding itself. Part roadside café and part gathering point, it draws a wide mix of riders on weekends — from canyon carvers and vintage collectors to ADV riders and locals out for a casual breakfast stop. The rustic building, shaded patio, and constant flow of bikes give it an unmistakable old California motorcycle culture feel.
The vibe can range from relaxed and welcoming to busy and performance-oriented depending on the crowd and time of day, but that’s part of what makes it interesting. Some riders stop for ten minutes, others stay for hours talking bikes and watching the parking lot rotate like an informal motorcycle show. Whether you’re there for the food, the atmosphere, or just to take in a piece of SoCal riding history, The Rock Store remains one of the region’s classic two-wheel meeting spots.
About this ride
The Santa Monica Mountains offer a masterclass in canyon carving, where tight technical switchbacks meet sweeping ocean views. This route stitches together the region's most iconic tarmac, including the legendary hairpins of "The Snake" on Mulholland Highway. Beyond the lean angles, you’ll soak up the quintessential SoCal bike culture at the Rock Store—a historic hangout for gearheads—and grab a basket of fresh seafood at Neptune’s Net while watching the Pacific surf. Whether you're here for the precision of the curves or the chance of a celebrity sighting at one of the many hangouts, these roads are a rite of passage for every West Coast rider.

Great collection of the Santa Monica Mountains greatest hits. As of this writing (May 4 2026) the 'Snake' section is open and will remain open for the foreseeable future. Just note that this section gets a little extra attention from LEO. Most of these roads tend to be fairly quiet, especially in the mornings. You can expect to see us locals out enjoying the roads and trails too, we might be on motos, bicycles, horses, etc. Please be courteous!

Warnings & safety notes
Watch out for law enforcement and aggressive drivers while riding in this area. You may encounter people riding or driving above their skill level. It's best to stay away from the center of the lane.
Watch your back! These canyons are preferred by very quick street riders. They will come up on you without warning and pass aggressively. Stay right and hold your line when this happens. Then, relax and enjoy the road.
