About this place
Tisavar is a small Roman fort from the time of Emperor Commodus, dating from around 184–187 CE. It was part of the Tripolitanus limes border system on the southern edge of the Roman Empire. It served as a post controlling the route between the Nefzaoua region and Remada, and oversaw the approaches to the Dahar plateau and the area of the present-day Ksar Ghilane oasis.
