After a concept reveal at EICMA last November, Ducati has finally taken the wraps off the production version of its next‑gen DesertX. The new model is Ducati’s attempt to push the platform further, in what the Italian manufacturer says is the result of experience gained over years of competition at races such as the Erzbergrodeo, the Rally of Albania, the Transanatolia, and NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally.

Dakar Rally 2026 - Stage 3 and Stage 4

On the cars, Ford’s Stage-3 sweep created early momentum and put Guthrie in the overall lead, but Toyota struck back immediately — Lategan’s Stage-4 win flipped the rally’s top spot heading deeper into the marathon sequence. On the bikes, Schareina’s back-to-back stage pace turned Honda’s threat into control, as the overall lead switched hands after Stage 4.

Dakar Rally 2026 - Stage 1 and Stage 2

The 2026 Dakar Rally’s opening days have already delivered the classic mix of tiny margins, time penalties, and big-name reshuffles. After Ford’s early Prologue punch, the first full stage swung the car lead to Guillaume de Mévius amid heavy penalties for defending champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi, while the bikes saw teenage-history-maker Edgar Canet on top.
