About this place
Maritim Museum Peenemünde U-461 is a museum in the harbour of Peenemünde on the island of Usedom in Germany. Its main exhibit is the former Soviet submarine U-461, originally K-24, belonging to Project 651, known in NATO as the Juliett class. It entered service in 1965 and operated mainly in the Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic.
Today, visitors can walk through its interior and see the narrow corridors, cabins, technical rooms, and the atmosphere of a Cold War submarine. It is an impressive piece of naval history — a huge steel machine that feels slightly claustrophobic and very authentic.
