It is one of the rare, glorious sanctuaries in the old city that serves alcohol, making it the ultimate "End of Ride" reward. The Catch: No Bikes Allowed Here’s the deal: you can’t ride your bike to the front door. The café is hidden deep within the Mouassine district. You’ll need to park your bike in one of the guarded "Parkings" near Bab Laksour or Place Jemaa el-Fna and navigate the last few hundred meters on foot through the vibrant souks. Think of it as your daily cardio—walking through a maze of spices and carpets to reach the oasis. The Reward: Sunset & Suds Once you climb the stairs to the rooftop terrace, the chaos of the bazaar vanishes. You’re greeted with a stunning view of the Koutoubia Mosque and the Atlas Mountains in the distance. The vibe is a sophisticated mix of Moroccan style and Italian flair. Whether you’re craving a chilled "Flag Spéciale" or a cocktail, this is the place to toast to your tour while the sun sets over the red city.

Tizi n'Tazazert "Summit Hotel" : 5-Star Views, 0-Star Springs The accommodation at the top is the definition of "ultra-minimalist." Forget luxury; this is "Stone-Age Chic" at its finest. The Suites: Two premium, floor-integrated sleeping systems (read: mattresses on the ground). Perfect for those who want to stay grounded after leaning deep into those asphalt curves. A stunning motorcycle ride through the remote mountains and valleys of Morocco, featuring a mix of paved roads, gravel tracks, open grasslands, and challenging rocky sections with washed-out paths. Far from the tourist routes, the scenery is breathtaking and untouched, with only the occasional local village along the way. The route climbs through varying elevations, winding mountain passes, and national parks home to Morocco’s tallest cedar trees — one of the most unforgettable rides in the countryStart in Fes and head south west Take R504 untill it meets N29 and head North.

A legendary ride across Morocco’s remote eastern desert to Figuig — one of the country’s most isolated destinations. Endless desert roads and optional sand trails make this a true adventure far from the tourist path. The journey adds a few extra days, but the raw landscapes and solitude make it unforgettable. Security is slightly tighter near the border, but traveling through the area is generally no problem. Riders can choose between endless desert tracks with compact sand sections or the long, lonely paved road stretching through the desert. Fuel stations are available along the route, making the ride manageable despite its remote location. Arriving in Figuig, you can even see the lights of neighboring Algeria glowing across the border at night 

After visiting the famous Todra Gorge, continue north and leave the tourist crowds behind. The route climbs into the mountains along a mix of gravel tracks and paved roads, offering endless twisty sections, dramatic canyons, and breathtaking scenery. Ride past the stunning Toudgha Dam before reaching the remote mountain village of Tamtetoucht — a perfect stretch for riders seeking adventure and solitude.

Serdrar: The Silent Sentinel of the Moroccan Steppe ​Located deep in the arid plains south of the Atlas Mountains, Serdrar (near Tazzarine) is more than just a destination—it’s a hauntingly beautiful encounter with Morocco’s disappearing history. This almost abandoned settlement, characterized by its crumbling mud-brick (pisé) architecture, offers adventure riders a raw and unfiltered look at traditional desert life. ​The Location & Setting ​Positioned at GPS: 30.729777, -5.445713, Serdrar sits in a vast, open landscape where the desert floor is a mix of hard-packed earth and volcanic rock. The site is famous for its proximity to fossil-rich ridges and ancient rock carvings, but the village itself is the star for those who appreciate "Lost Places." The structures are a maze of earthen walls, many of which are returning to the soil from which they were built. ​The Riding Experience ​The Approach: Reaching Serdrar often involves navigating a mix of weathered asphalt and dusty tracks. The surrounding area is a playground for adventure bikes like the KTM 1290 Super Adventure or BMW GS series. The wide-open terrain allows for that liberating sense of "off-piste" riding, provided you keep an eye out for hidden washouts and soft sand patches. ​A Photographic Backdrop: As seen in the provided images, the deep ochre and terracotta hues of the ruins provide a stunning contrast against the vibrant colors of a modern touring bike. The geometric patterns of the decaying Kasbah walls and the vast, empty horizon create a "post-apocalyptic" aesthetic that is gold for video creators and photographers. ​Quiet Exploration: Unlike the bustling souks of Marrakesh, Serdrar offers absolute silence. You can park your bike right next to the ancient walls and wander through the empty doorways, feeling the pulse of a place that time has largely forgotten. ​Highlights for Adventure Travelers ​Fossil Hunting: The region is world-renowned for its Orthoceras and Ammonite fossils. You’ll often find small, local stalls or even find specimens yourself in the nearby rocky outcrops. ​Remote Campsites: Near these coordinates, you can find eco-lodges and desert camps that cater specifically to the adventure community, offering a base to explore the "Jbel Saghro" mountain range to the north. ​Authenticity: This isn't a tourist trap. It’s a genuine piece of Moroccan heritage, offering a quiet, reflective stop before heading further south toward the dunes of Merzouga. ​Rider Tips ​Surface: The ground around the ruins is generally firm gravel and dirt, making it easy to position heavy bikes for photos without fear of them sinking. ​Sun & Shade: There is very little natural shade in this area. If you plan to spend time filming or exploring the ruins, try to arrive in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. ​Navigation: While the site is near a main track, having a reliable GPS tool is essential as many desert paths in this region look identical and can lead you deep into the hamada (stone desert).

Gas Haven: A Cinematic Desert Oasis in the Heart of Morocco ​Deep in the sun-drenched plains of the Moroccan desert lies one of the most surreal sights you’ll encounter on two wheels: Gas Haven. While it looks like a relic from a 1950s American highway, this iconic "petrol station" was actually built as a film set for the 2006 cult horror movie The Hills Have Eyes. ​The Location & Ride ​Located on the N9 highway, roughly 35km southwest of Ouarzazate near the village of Amerzgane, Gas Haven is perfectly positioned for riders traversing the legendary Tizi n'Tichka Pass. After navigating the high-altitude hairpins of the Atlas Mountains, the landscape opens up into a vast, rocky plateau, where this eerie American outpost suddenly appears on the horizon. ​Why It’s a Must-Stop for Riders ​The Aesthetic: From the rusted-out vintage car shells to the weathered "Gas Haven" signage and retro fuel pumps, the site is a masterclass in set design. It offers a bizarre, "Twilight Zone" contrast to the traditional mud-brick Kasbahs you’ll see elsewhere in the region. ​Visual Gold: If you’re touring with a 360° camera or drone, this is the place to use it. The long, straight desert road leading up to the station provides the perfect "vanishing point" for action shots, while the textures of the rusted metal and desert dust look incredible in the golden hour light. ​The Vibe: It’s more than just a photo op; it’s an atmospheric experience. Walking through the abandoned diner and garage, you’ll find lingering props that keep the "creepy" movie vibe alive—a stark, silent contrast to the roar of your engine. ​Pro Tips for the Road ​Don't Try to Refuel: Despite its name, this is a movie set—the pumps are strictly for show! Ensure your tank is topped up in Ouarzazate or Amerzgane. ​Timing: To capture the best footage without the midday glare, aim to arrive in the late afternoon. The low sun hitting the Atlas Mountains in the background makes for an epic backdrop. ​Access: The site is easily accessible directly from the asphalt of the N9. You can park your bike right among the ruins for that perfect "post-apocalyptic" shot. ​Gas Haven is a testament to Morocco’s role as the "Hollywood of Africa" and serves as a weird, wonderful, and slightly haunting milestone on any North African adventure.

The 27 km long Swartberg Pass between Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert is considered one of the most spectacular mountain passes in the world. It was Thomas Bain's last engineering masterpiece completed around 1888 and declared a National Monument in 1988. Prince Albert lies at the entrance to pass. A gravel road winds to the summit 1 575 metres above sea level in steep zigzags and sudden hairpins with breath-taking views at every turn. The turn-off to Gamkaskloof (also known as 'Die Hel') lies near the summit of the pass. Along the way there are relics of an old prison, toll hut, hotel and other interesting historical sites. There is a picnic spot and view point at the summit from where you can enjoy magnificent views to the north with the Nuweveld Mountains on the horizon beyond Beaufort West and towards the Outeniqua Mountains in the south, beyond which lies the sea.

A column commemorating the Battle of Ksar Ghilane during World War II. Attacked by the Afrika Korps, the French troops of Leclerc's column triumphed in defense and prevented the enemy from discovering the New Zealand concentration preparing to attack the Mareth Line. The monument bears the following inscription: "Here, from February 23 to March 10, 1943, General Leclerc and Force L, advancing from Chad, successfully repelled the enemy attack, inflicting heavy losses."

Tisavar is a small Roman fort from the time of Emperor Commodus, dating from around 184–187 CE. It was part of the Tripolitanus limes border system on the southern edge of the Roman Empire. It served as a post controlling the route between the Nefzaoua region and Remada, and oversaw the approaches to the Dahar plateau and the area of ​​the present-day Ksar Ghilane oasis.
