Die Burgruine Ehrenberg bewachte einst, gemeinsam mit der Festung auf dem Schlosskopf, der Klause Talsperre und dem Fort Claudia das gesamte Tal, eine sehr eindrucksvolle Festungsanlage, die man hervorragend besichtigen kann. Man sollte aber etwas Zeit einplanen, es lohnt sich.**********Together with the fortress on the Schlosskopf, the Klause barrier, and Fort Claudia, the Ehrenberg castle ruins once guarded the entire valley—an impressive fortification complex that is well worth visiting. You should set aside some time for it; it is certainly worth the effort.

Man sollte aber Zeit einplanen. **********Schlosskopf Fortress—along with the Ehrenberg castle ruins and another fortress connected by a suspension bridge—is a destination well worth visiting; you can enjoy coffee in the valley and easily reach both summits using the Ehrenberg Liner, an inclined lift. However, you should allow plenty of time for the visit.

At the head of the Rißtal valley, where one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Alps unfolds, the Großer Ahornboden (Great Maple Floor) offers a breathtaking natural spectacle. Over 2,200 sycamore maples, some over 600 years old and a riot of color in autumn, reach for the sky here. They were declared a natural monument as early as 1927. Why this extensive stand of trees was able to develop in an area used for centuries as pastureland remains unclear. It's possible that cattle diseases or the Thirty Years' War led to the valley floor being left ungrazed for extended periods.Numerous cows spend their summers on the Großer Ahornboden each year. Their milk is processed into butter and cheese at the Eng Alm, the oldest alpine pasture in Tyrol with its thousand-year history. You can watch the hardworking cheesemaker, who has been passionately producing top-quality cheese for many years, at work. Or simply enjoy the delicacies on the sunny alpine terrace, where the majestic mountain scenery smiles down upon you.

Nesseby Church is one of the most impressive churches in East Finnmark – not only because of its history, but also because of its location directly on the Varangerfjord. The white wooden church stands almost like a lighthouse in the vast, treeless landscape.The current church was built in 1858, replacing older predecessor buildings. It is therefore one of the older surviving churches in Finnmark.The church is unusually oriented: it is not strictly east-west, but north-south, so that the entrance faces the village and "welcomes" visitors. It can accommodate 250 people, which is remarkable considering the total population of 4,500 in the entire region.The historic altarpiece is particularly worth seeing. It originally came from the old church in Kiberg and was brought to Nesseby in 1747.

King Oskar II ChapelThe King Oscar II Chapel is far more than just a small church at the end of the world. It was built in 1869 as a deliberate political symbol. It offers only about 70–72 seats and thus resembles a lonely border post rather than a traditional village church.It received its name in 1873 after a visit from King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway. A marble plaque in Norwegian and Sami still commemorates this event.

The miller's daughter fell in love with the assistant and married him. At the wedding celebration, the young bride demanded a test of courage from her groom: he was to bring her two white roses from a grave. When the servant arrived at the cemetery, he recognized from a gravestone that his starving wife and child were buried there. In his despair, he hanged himself with a lock of hair that his first wife had given him.

Literally at the end of the line, Roni Horn’s art installation in Ørahaugen consists of two glass objects housed in an architect-designed wooden cabin.The artwork consists of two identical glass objects, each weighing 4.9 tons. One object has a cool, bluish color; the other, a warm peach tone. They radiate tranquility in a rugged corner of the world, where shifting light conditions—the midnight sun, the Northern Lights, and the darkness of winter—constantly create new moods.

At the heart of Selvika lies the sheltered bay of Sandbukta, featuring an inviting sandy beach. The rest area resembles a curving concrete sculpture, with a walkway that winds down to the barbecue area on the beach.In the surrounding area, there are cultural monuments and burial grounds dating back to the Neolithic period and the Sami culture.

The Ziemestal Bridge is situated within a wooded area of ​​the Saale-Orla District. It lies in a region bordered to the north and east by numerous dams along the Saale River. There are few settlements in the immediate vicinity of the Ziemestal Bridge; the nearest are Ziegenrück, Altenbeuthen, and Remptendorf. It is a viaduct—115 meters long and 32 meters high—on the Triptis–Marxgrün railway line in Thuringia, constructed between 1893 and 1895. Supported by five lattice piers, it spans the Ziemesgrund valley in a gentle curve, situated between Ziegenrück, Altenbeuthen, and Remptendorf. Officially, the viaduct belongs to the municipality of Remptendorf. It is a single-track structure composed entirely of steel. The bridge follows a curved alignment with a radius of 193 meters and features a gradient of 2%. To facilitate higher train speeds, the bridge deck is superelevated. Climbing onto or walking upon the bridge structure or the railway tracks is strictly prohibited for unauthorized persons. The ruins of the Wysburg castle are located approximately one kilometer to the southwest.

Bagger 1473Excavator 1473, bearing the model designation SRs 1500[1], is a bucket-wheel excavator built in 1964–65 by VEB Schwermaschinenbau Lauchhammerwerk; it remained in operation in the Lusatian lignite mining district until 2002. Following its decommissioning, the excavator was relocated to Hörlitz in 2003 to be preserved as a testament to mining history. Due to its distinctive blue color scheme, the excavator is also known as the "Blue Wonder." In 2019, it was officially granted heritage status; however, plans for its scrapping—along with the attendant debates—persist, leaving its future uncertain.
